About Palacios, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The city of Palacios is located on the coast of scenic Matagorda Bay in Matagorda County, Texas.  Palacios is the self-proclaimed "Shrimp Capital of Texas" and, with a population of approximately five thousand people, is the second largest city in the county and the third largest shrimping port on the Texas Gulf Coast.  The weather in Palacios is hot and humid during the summer, with mild winters and evenly distributed rainfall throughout the year.

Palacios is a haven for outdoor sports and recreation enthusiasts.  Some of the best duck and goose hunting in the state is available in the surrounding county of Matagorda, which boasts some of the best waterfowl habitat and the largest concentration of wild geese in the country during the wet, winter months.  Anglers can fish from the piers located along the beachfront or on nearby Lake Texana, located approximately thirty-five miles to the southeast of the city.  Bird watching is also a popular sport in the area.  Matagorda County has one of the highest counts of bird species in the United States and bird watchers come from all over to observe the many species in their natural habitat.  Tres Palacios Bay and Tres Palacios River are listed as top bird watching locations in the state.

The city hosts a number of annual festivals and events throughout the year, including the Bay Fest in October, the Chamber of Commerce Fishing Tournament in August, and the annual lighting of the Christmas palm tree.

For a cultural overview of the history of Palacios, take a stroll around the city and have a look at the beautifully done murals depicting scenes of local life that are located on buildings around the town.
